Creating a whole new category in haircare – detangling, former hair colourist Shaun P launched his innovative brand called Tangle Teezer in 2007. Having been rejected by Dragons’ Den as a ‘hairbrained idea’ the brand has since become an award-winning global phenomenon having sold 40 million hairbrushes worldwide.
A buzz brand that knows no boundaries, innovation is at the forefront of this Brixton based, British designed and manufactured brand. Sold in nearly 100 countries, it’s a brand that has achieved cult status from developing hairbrushes and tools that create new ways to solve problems with disruptive technology.
Shaun was thrilled to be approached by the BDT as his love of Brixton began 30 years ago when he moved into the area. He originally built his business from his two-bedroomed flat in Brixton before moving into premises in Stockwell Road. Drawn to the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of Brixton, to be able to put back into the community as well as establish Tangle Teezer as a Brixton based brand is hugely rewarding for Shaun.

Brixton Brewery is one of London’s established craft breweries, making beer in the heart of one of London’s most colourful and famous neighbourhoods. We were founded in 2013 by two local couples, Jez and Libby and Mike and Xochitl, but our shared passion for beer started years before that, when we met in the old Hive Bar (now Craft Beer Co. Brixton), and bonded over newborn babies, and a dream of opening a brewery. We reckoned that every great neighbourhood deserves a great brewery, and we wanted to bring one to Brixton.
Brixton Pound Cafe
Our ambition is to source our food from local surplus - perfectly edible food that would otherwise be wasted - and turn it into delicious and healthy meals. We have partnered up with a number of organisations including Local Greens, The People's Fridge, surplus sharing app OLIO, Brixton Soup Kitchen and Brixton People’s Kitchen, and work together as part of a network aiming to reduce food waste and food poverty in the area.
